International Co-Productions

When it comes to international co-productions, Austria is bound by bilateral and multi-lateral agreements such as the multilateral European Convention on Cinematographic Co-Productions, bilateral agreements with France, Luxemburg, Italy, Spain, and Canada as well as a tri-lateral agreement with Germany and Switzerland. Any production recognized as an international co-production will be treated as a “national” production in all countries which are part of the agreement and national funding from all these countries can be accessed. The recognition of joint productions as an international co-production and the negotiation of bilateral film agreements falls into the domain of the Austrian Ministry of Economic, Youth, and Family.

Location Austria will gladly assist foreign production companies in their search for an Austrian co-production partner with international experience.
